Which are the technologies behind opera mini 5?

Hi,

I have just installed Opera Mini Beta 5 on my old LG KE850 (Prada) and the software runs amazingly well!

I was wondering what is the API for graphics they use and what about the FONTS. The fonts look great! Also the transactions and smoothness of the whole software is just staggering!!!

Does anyone have any idea about GUI technology and Fonts used into that beauty?

Opera Mini is a Java MIDP application. The Displayable component is a Canvas. The text is constructed from bitmap images (PNGs) in the application (custom font). On the network side, it maintains a socket connection (on supported devices) to Opera's server. The server does much of the HTML processing and image resizing, meaning a smaller amount of data can be sent to the phone, and in a format that is simpler for the phone to process (hence, faster).

"Presto" is Opera's proprietary web rendering engine, essentially their equivalent of WebKit. It's used in all Opera browsers. In Opera Mini, however, the Presto engine sits on the server, it's not part of the software installed on the phone.
