    Does anyone know where the Symbian ICL library is?

    There is plenty of documentation on how to use it, but I cant find the actual library itself, it is not in the normal SDK.

    I am trying to build this example;

    Hi,

    ICL (Image Conversion Libraries) is a collection of image processing APIs, for example the CImageDecoder for decoding jpeg/gif/png/... image files/buffers to the Symbian OS bitmap object (CFbsBitmap object). The platform builders like Nokia or UIQ Tech took full version of the ICL from Symbian, but when they built the SDKs some of the APIs were removed for unknown reasons, that is why the example can be built with Symbian PDK but not with S60/UIQ SDKs.

    Does that mean third party developers get a crippled version of the SDK? or is the Symbian PDK available to everyone? I thought the PDK was intended for companies developing Symbian devices.

    The problem is that the ICL as it stands it not very useful. It can encode and decode image files to RGB bitmaps, but not much else.

    Hi,

    // Does that mean third party developers get a crippled version of the SDK?

    I'd rather say "SDK is a crippled version of the PDK".

    // or is the Symbian PDK available to everyone

    Yes,

    "Symbian Foundation - Tools & Kits"
    http://developer.symbian.org/main/to...kits/index.php

    // ...

    ok you are right it is not as powerful as one may expect, and I think that is why more APIs are introduced to the latest versions of Symbian.

    "Symbian^3 - Imaging Framework"
