I'm developing a widget that download files from internet. I download files using "openURL" but I cannot change downloads folder. There is another ways to download files?

afaik there is not file download method via the APIs provided.

The filetype of the openURL'ed file is associated on client side by the browser,
defining what happens when it's been downloaded, like if it is a .sis file it's going
to be installed. Free saving anywhere on the device might not be possible just as
you said, primarily for security reasons.
