Perst DB keeps increasing!

Hi All,

In my application I am storing the data in the perst database.

The problem I am facing is even if I am deleting the data from the database still the size of the DB is increasing.I am do not know the reason.I am storing the db in the phone memory and it's kepp increasing to 3mb, 4mb....

What will be the reason and what is the solution for the same? Please help me...

Is there any tool to read the .dbs file and check the content?If yes, then please guide me...

by Perst DB, I take that you mean the record store for the MIDlet, is it not?

If yes,

-How large amount of data do you store in the record store?

-Which device(s) do you use for testing this?

As per your question please refer below

Yes,the record store for the MIDlet.
Each time when I am doing sync with the server at max I am storing 200kb of data at a time.And in some cases I am deleting some amount of data.

After synchronize with the server I am again adding some data and as per the requirement and as well deleting some required data for entire table also.


For testing I am using Nokia6300 and Nokia3110C.

Please guide me....

The record store size in terms of file limit is around of 256 kB for the devices in question, but a MIDlet can have several record stores. Could this approach (i.e. separate record stores for sync data and other data) be used for your case to see if that makes a difference?

Me too facing similar kind of problem.

My Jar size is 260Kb and my application storing some datas in RMS. After installing my jar in mobile(6300) and used for some time, the jar size has insreased to 20kb to 30kb.

Is it a problem with my code or anything else? If anyboby knows about this problem mean plese tell me, increase in jar size will create any problem or not?

I have also seen this on Nokia 6500 slider or 3110, the application manager reports the size of jar + rms and as rms size increases the reported app size is also shown increased.
