Hi ersomendra,
Please go through http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...s-30-40-vs.-60 it will helps you in understanding the about the S30
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Series_...ware_platform)
And all the Series 30 category phones, as far as I know, do not have any kind of programmability (with Java or otherwise). They're mobile phones with very basic features.
Ya It is true they don't have any kind of programing features.
Hi,
I have seen the 6310i it support the JSR midp1.0 and cldc1.0
Even Nokia 3590 and 3410 supports MIDP 1.0 and CLDC 1.0 and they belong to S30.
Thanks,
Ekta
S30 is a redundant term for 96x65 screen devices (like 3510i), from the time when S40 devices were all 128x128. "S40" now includes all these devices.
Graham.
Thank you All for your comments.
I also had idea that there are no any s-30 devices which supports java/j2me. But I heard some people saying that they had done games porting on some s-30 devices. So I got confused and thought to ask here in.
Well on the basis of the comments over here, as a confirmation what I concluded are:
1. There are no official s-30 devices.
2. The low end devices having screen resolution 96x65 like 3510i were misunderstood in s-30 category whereas they all come in s-40.
3. The devices which are listed in the Nokia forum devices section, have programming support else there is no devices which has programming support
4. some very low end devices like 1100, 1200, 12002, 1600 etc does not have any java / programming support and also don’t come under any series like s-30
Kindly do let me know if I am missing anything and correct me if I concluded anything wrong.
Thanks
Nokia does use the term "Series 30". See, e.g., http://www.nokia.com/NOKIA_COM_1/Mic...ile_Phones.pdf
okay. the document http://www.nokia.com/NOKIA_COM_1/Mic...ile_Phones.pdf
uses the term s-30. Which looks that Nokia uses the term “s-30”. The only phones include in this doc are- 1280, 1616 and 1800 which don't support Java/MIDP/CLDC. Hence it looks s-30 phones don't support java.
But the other low end phones like, Nokia 3410, 3510, 3590, 6310i support Java/MIDP/CLDC. So my question is -Are these devices come under which category, s-30 or s-40?
Would it be correct to say that No s30 Nokia phones support java? Or If some devices of s-30 support java/MIDP, can anyone list out those devices??
Thanks
Someone's written on wikipedia the following:
"It is interesting to note that the Nokia 3510i, a Series 30 phone released in 2002, came with Java ME and polyphonic MIDI capabilities[3], yet later Series 30 devices dropped some of the said features in favor of embedded content and less emphasis on extra features such as Internet connectivity."

Thanks for giving the reference of Wikipedia. But Nokia 3510i phone is of s-40 not of s-30.
You can confirm the same from here
http://www.forum.nokia.com/Devices/D...cations/3510i/
As per our understanding Nokia is a reliable channel than someone else’s saying in some other portal.
So my question is still unanswered![]()

I call those devices Series 30, just because I do not have any other name. Why do you want to know the answer to that (very) specific (marketing) question?
