    Hi all,

i wanted to know if it is possible to manage a Mid-let remotely. for example:

if i wanted to add a new function to a mid-let that has already been deployed
will this only be possible if i modify the mid-let and ask users to download the new version

are there other ways for doing this?
maybe a text like file with the new code that the mid-let reads and configures itself with the new function?

thank you in advanced for your help

Both of these methods are possible.

if i wanted to add a new function to a mid-let that has already been deployed
will this only be possible if i modify the mid-let and ask users to download the new version
---> You just need to setup the upgrade notification system in place - like if its client/server app, server should check for upgrades on every login.

maybe a text like file with the new code
---> New code not possible w/o upgarde

text settings file -- that the mid-let reads and configures itself with the new function?
----> This works as flow control files, but in this case the pre-deployed app should have full features and the support or display of them on menu is controlled by this flow control file which can be modified OTA.
    thanks,

this flow control file is the text or XML file that you wrote yourself and use it in your program to control (enable/disable) the program features.
    thanks,

i have not written such a text or XML yet, i was only wondering if it was possible.

but now that u have told me that it is possible, how would one write such and XML / Text
and how would he code his program to be able to support this?

any links or books i can read about this?

    thankyou
