Voice, using a Nokia 22 and a digital connection.

Is it possible to use a Nokia 22 data port to support voice?
I have a voicemail server that is connected to a nokia 22, via a BrookTrout Telephony card and RJ-11 cables. When customers phone in, they can retrieve their voicemails. There is also another application, that makes outbound calls from this server. Essentialy, I want to know if I can exclude the BrookTrout analougue and go straight from the server to the Nokia 22. All help and advice will be much appreciated.

The RS-232 works only as a standard serial port for the data.
