X2-03 Screen does not go dark anymore Wastes battery

I bought the Nokia X2-03 about 2 week ago, and after about 30 seconds the phone 'locks' and goes into power saving mode, the screen goes dark, and one needs to press the 'end call' key, followed by the 'unlock' key in order for the screen to light up and work as normal.

Great.

Or one could press the 'lock' button on the side to make this happen.

But since yesterday, this does not happen anymore. After about 30 seconds the screen gets somewhat darker....... but stays semi lit..... and now one only needs to press the button 'unlock' (so now only 1 key press needed) to unlock the phone.

I have searched through the user manual, and all the settings on the phone oi could think of.... but can't find any setting which seems to control this.

Has anyone had a similar problem, or does it sound like a fault in the phone?
