Symbian pdk + Qt 4.6.3

Hi all,

in my application i like to create the GUI part with use Qt GUI Class and background process symbian pdk 4.0.3 , with use of carbide .

i created the application with use of symbian pdk and i add Manually Qt GUI class in Src folder ,but its showing some errors
so i just add some of the QT lib in my mmp file.. but still its showing error .?

any one have idea about this ?

You might want to give a bit more information on what is actually happening, and what actually have you done, and are trying ?

Would it be a lot easier to use normal SDK, install qt on top of it, and then just add the libraries from open sources that you are requiring as additional ones..

sure... in my application i am trying to implemen t Qt gui instead of normal application view , i created one application with use of pdk and i dont want normal application view for my application ,so i added Qt GUI class maually in the src folder.. after adding i got the error like

Undefined identifier Q_OBJECT
Undefined identifier QMainWindow

so i added some of those lib in the .mmp file (LIBRARY QtGui.lib , LIBRARY QtCore.lib )
but still its showing the same error .

have you thought about the idea on actually using normal SDK as a base ?

yes i checked with normal sdk base (symbian^3) its also showing the errors ?

Have you checked any code samples that would mix Symbian with Qt already ? those would give you nice idea on how you could get them working together.

I basically have often used 5th ed SDK with Qt on carbide, have noted it to have less problems, though the compatibility with symbian^3 libraries might give some problems, though haven't got any with my own limited checks really.

can u please refer any good examples with mix of symbian with QT ? and i checked with Symbian 5th ed also its also showing the error.

thanks for ur help , i have one more doubt , we can possible do it on reverse way or not ,
in that example they are adding the libs in the .pro file same like how we can add Qt libs in the .mmp file ?

Never tried adding Qt to symbian projects, never seen it done also. Thus I would recommend doing it in the way it is supposed to be used. i.e. make a Qt project and add symbian stuff into it.

making a Qt project and adding symbian stuff into it is working fine, but make Symbian project and add Qt stuff is not working ?
any one have idea about this ?

You should be able to add the qrc_xxx.cpp files and the moc_xxx.cpp files and the like to the Symbian project. Also need to set the macro settings and compiler settings somehow.

It would be fragile -- any change to the Qt code would require recompiling in a Qt project and re-copying the sources.

And, of course, many Qt features depend on having the QCoreApplication constructor executed, so you'd need to think about that.
