Hi all, I'm developing a project for Area Monitoring, where I have to detect a person deviating from a route (pre defined). I donno how this can be done, I have searched the Wiki and came up with a Qt code to do this, but it requires the lat/lon coordinates for each certain distance in the route, say for 100 meters.

I've asked about this in Google maps forums and DiBos, but didn't get enough answer. Has anyone implemented this, if yes then please help me to do this.

I suppose you could calculate the distance from the known points of the route, and see that you are not too far from the route, but I think you should also check the direction the user is moving and seeing that it matches the next routepoint.

Thanks for the reply, I knew that method to detect deviation but I have asked for a method to get the the points(coordinates) on the route.. If I could extract the points on the route for every 100 or 200 meters I can easily detect deviation with the Areamonitor class in QMobility. But getting such points along the line is unknown for me..

I expect some other useful answers too..

Which API are you using for getting the route ? and what kind of data are you getting for separate route segments ?

I have successfully found the solution for this using Google maps API (JavaScript) and a third party JavaScript called EPoly.

Where did you find this Epoly? I haven't heard of it but am hoping it will help me find out whether or not my drivers are wasting extra gas by deviating from their routes by locating their company phones. Also, I'd like to be able to put an updatable map that shows my customers where the truck coming to them is on the route right on my site East Bay Area Hauling. Any Suggestions?
