What is the future of symbian and ovi store?

Dear All Symbian Experts,

Since Nokia has announced their decision of making Windows 7 phone on their own hardware on 11/02/2011. Nokia's top officials confirmed about Windows Phone becoming Nokia’s "primary smartphone platform" and Symbian becoming "a franchise platform. Does it means Symbian is going to die soon? What about the ovi store then? Will it stop publishing symbian apps or how long publishers will get ovi support to sell their symbian apps on ovi store?

Purnima mentioned in her letter "All together, this means your investment in Qt is a safe choice for skill competency, monetization opportunities and brand awareness amongst our millions of users." What about S60?

S60 as a name has been gone for some time already, thus just look for word Symbian in there.

Easy questions, easy answers
"Does it means Symbian is going to die soon?" - yes, next year
"What about the ovi store then? " - yes, logically, same thing... next year somewhere ...at least for symbian/qt applications
"Will it stop publishing symbian apps or how long publishers will get ovi support to sell their symbian apps on ovi store?" - of course, if there are no new symbian phones, then interest to applications will fall down very quickly, from other side same will happen with interest to post new applications to empty store where are no customers.
To sum this: Ovi will be dead soon in case if WM7 business will go wrong or Ovi will be "dead" for us - qt/symbian developers in any case...unfortunatelly

my 2 cents...

The Ovi store is not only for new symbian phones. The way worlds economy is going at the moment, I believe that people are going to hold on to their "old" phones little longer than in years up to 2010, thus extending the time symbian will be around. Then there is those 150mill. symbian phones yet to be sold. Closing Ovi Store would not make a big difference to Nokias budged...

A business minded person would propably try to scare of all the other developers by telling how desperate the situation is and then go and warm up their Qt Creator The way I see it (started learning Qt Creator 6 months ago), it would not even matter if Symbian and Ovi dies in 2-3 years there would be plenty of time to write an other Angry Birds.
