Anyone knows approximate timeframe for release N9 and awailable service for submitting apps to OviStore? last news I read is september-october for release. Is it still valid? I just want to plan my development schedule bcs I also partly busy with other platforms.

I remember seeing that some distributors/operators have started to accept preorders, but I cannot remember a single company name off the top of my head.

It is usually set as high like this when they do not have accurate information on the availability and the actual price of the items.

I hope this is a mistake. If this is true, then the only explantation could that price is to high because Elop whats completely kill idea of having meego OS on nokia. Somewhere I saw 599 EUR

It won't cost 999e I can promise you that. The old CPU should mean a price in the range of the N8 in my opinion. The lower the better of course.

This is a complete rumor so far, but a carrier listed the release date as September 23rd in their press release in Sweden; http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/22/n...-awkwardly-tr/.

What the he** is going on at Nokia? Heise.de reports that there will be no N9 available in Germany. My last chance seemed an import from Austria, but the availability is now scheduled "end of year". Do they really think I will buy a WP7 phone instead?

Now seriously: are there any people from Nokia who at least once per 2-4 critical topics can answer on behalf of NOKIA officially? It looks like Nokia abandoned developer.nokia.com and leave it completely on developers "self-support" and rumors around rumours and links to 3rd party blogs... I sad... Just planned to start new project related to N9, but if rumours says "december", I have time to switch to android for a while...

I say Qt. It works on Android, Symbian, and whatever fun OS the N9 runs .

We are listening but those of us in the Nokia Developer division have no real influence over the products. Also it is usually the operator not Nokia who decides where a device is available.

This is the Nokia Developer forum and while I and the other experts from Nokia try to respond we are not the people who know let alone make decisions on releases. If you plan a new project on the N9 then there are developer kits and discussion going on for that. If you write with Qt for the N950 they will run in the N9

Does anyone know exactly how much firmware and OS do N950 and N9 share? Is it 95%? 90% same?

Because N950 if far from a stable device, with some glaring bugs (see buglist for Harmattan). I hope they are smart, and use N950 users to clean those out before releasing N9.

In my experience with sales of my symbian apps in Ovi Store the best buyers are Germany, UK, Italy, Mexico, South Africa, Australia, France. NON of these countries in N9 list :-(
Are they comming later to list or never? Ron, I know you are not expert in this kind of questions, but I think the answer is quite important for developers. It could be nice of you to get this kind of information internally from Nokia people who knows and allowed to tell about this. Otherwise people loosing interest to develop for N9 if there is no option to buy device in their country and/or no profit from small sales. The beatifull N9 phone will be dead before birth - and not because of people taste to iOS or Android, but just because "mother"(Nokia) decided so.

I had plans to release 3 apps till end of this year for N9. 1st is almost ready, but now I have doubts about to continue and the rest of apps ... and entire N9 dev.idea for me bcs. phone will not be available in my country...

That is IMHO not true: why can I still buy the N900 and 6300i in Germany? Both devices were never sold by any major operator...
