what's meannig of theme version

hello

when I create theme with carbide ui and installing the theme on my n8-00 I see theme version in installation popup message it's usually v1.0

but when I install theme for other creators I see different theme version for example v2.0(1)

the question is what the different in theme version & why the carbide always create theme with version 1.0

Usually people start with v1.0 being the first release version, and then increment it for updates (new versions) of/for the same theme (or application/game, for that matter).

I'm not sure where exactly you specify it in Carbide.ui, but I assume there's some place for it. Or you can edit the .pkg file.

There is no other Nokia program, and very few alternatives, too. I only know of ownskin.com (if still alive), and an old S60 app called DIY Theme (or something to that effect) for S60 2nd Edition (or maybe it was for S60 3rd Ed.).

Ask the theme developer, if you need to know what the difference is between v1.0 of a theme vs. v2.0 of the same, existing theme (which you haven't created yourself; if you have, you should know the differences yourself).

Or find a sis file unpackager (unsis, or whatever the apps are called), and search for differences in the individual files inside the installation package. At least then you know which files are different. If you need more than that, then the answer is again: Ask the theme developer.

Hi,

When i make themes, i use revisions in numbers to indicate major or minor changes, for me 1.0 to 1.1 is a minor change for example bug squashing, 1.5 might be addition of icons, where as 1.0 to 2.0 for me is the addition of a new os or new devices.

Eg my themes go 1.0 for S^3 and 2.0 for Symbian Anna

It makes people understand what each version means, i use Siscontents to change the version number and submit the unsigned theme to Ovi Publish

you mean no different in making theme but it's just to people to know the theme made for which device

do you have experience in theme making?
now I make themes for Symbian Belle and have some troubles with theme area
