    You can do it using WMA API's and Message Connections + Push Registry (if you want to receive the SMS when the app is not running)
    Midlet can access only Port directed SMS and can send P2P as well as Port Directed SMS.

    Refer to WMADemo - SMS examples in SUN WTK.
