Different UIDs for same app running on different platforms?

Hi,

Due to new features on the latest Symbian platforms, I'm planning to publish my app on OVI store for two different Symbian platform ranges. That means, that I'll create two SIS-files (instead of only one as currently is the case):

• File #1: For S60 3rd ed. - S60 5th ed. platforms
• File #2: For S^3 - Symbian Belle platforms

The app name will remain the same. File #2 will only contain some more features compared to file #1.

Now, I'd like to know if I have to distribute these two files on OVI store with two different app UIDs? Or is it possible to use one UID for both files?

I believe you can safely use one UID, at least I did it for all of my apps that support both Symbian^1 and Symbian^3 devices (one app - one UID).

Yes you can use the same UID in this case since there will be no conflict in the distribution.

Just one more question about that: I will add file #2 with the same UID to the same content item. Then, file #2 will go through the Q&A process. After sucessfully passing the tests, it'll be available for S^3 devices only.

I think, that this will cause an overlapping of the compatible phone models ("Distribution") as file #1 is currently available (amongst others) for S^3 devices, too. This configuration will remain until I remove the S^3 devices for file #1 from the phone model compatibility list.

What do you think will happen in the meantime? Which file will be downloaded from users with S^3 devices through OV store?
