Sending and receiving data

Hi! this is rather urgent, I'm trying to develop a game that requires sending and receiving data from a http server.

it needs open a connection, send this: http://www.xx.com/xx.asp?data=xxx and receive the data on this site.

can anyone guide me on how to start or is there any example or codes that i can reference to? thank you.
