No phone connected

Hi,
i wonder why i am unable to connect to phone using the NOKIA Connection Manager. im using DAU-9P connected thru serial cable.i couldnt connect in either COM port.it might be that my cable is defected? im some sort of confident that my PC's COM port are great and my 5110 phone is fine too.
Please help, i cant figure out what going to be wrong.
