    Hi,

I'm new to j2me programming and am trying to write a small app that has the funtionality of a speed dial. it is supposed to run in the background similar to the alarm clock, with a little icon at the top of the screen like alarm clock, so i can see wether or not the app is running. now if i would dial "22" for eg. the app would manipulate/exchange the dialed number according to a file that is on the phone aswell. it would also be of great help if this app would start as the phone is switched on.

So basically i'm looking for help with three things:

1)how do i make an app run in the backround
2)how do i catch dailed numbers from the normal dialing process and manipulate them
3)how do i make the start everytime the phone is switched on

i have spent so much time browsing for howtos/tutorials and have found nothing. i would appreciate any help.

    Thank you in advance!

    regards, olotech

The Nokia Series-40 platform do not support MIDlets running in the background, such at least for Series-40 handset your speed dial is not going to be possible to implement.
