CustomItem resize in Form

I resize my CustomItem in a form using the setPreferredSize(30,-1); and it works fine in the emulator and not on the Nokia 6620.

Any help ???

Basically the Customitem is already positioned and sized by the form. An event occurs in which the CustomItem needs to be resized. So as documented the setPreferredSize() is called to change the height. The emulator works fine but the device does not Nokia 6620 and Also Nokia 9300.

Oh well, any suggestions. It is well documented to report change size simple called setPreferredSize() to unlock a dimension.
