What's Diff between CW Versions?

From a Non-CW user, who is thinking about CW:

Anyone have a quick technical diffs on the CW versions?

There are three versions, and the marketting hype doesn't help tell which one allows on-device debugging.

Can I do on-device debugging using a standard Nokia phone, or only specific phones, or do you need to buy a board support kit?

Hi,

If you want to use MetroTRK (on target debugging) you need at least CW Profesional edition for that.
Please go to following web pages and download the datasheets of the CW editions to see differencies:

At the moment you can not use Nokia Series 60 devices for the on target debugging due to security restrictions of those phones.
You have to use UIQ phones whit the MetroTRK like P900 and P910.
There is also a way to use Nokia devices with MetroTRK but you must first flash new binaries which includes the MetroTRK to the phone.

I have one simple question. Is possible with any version of Codewarrior, which can be actually ordered from nokia pages debug on N6630, N6680 or N70? I thing that 3.11 version is supporting only OS9.1 and the 8.02 FP2 2nd and 3rd are unsupported. Is that right??

Can you confirm it?

If the answer is YES, is there any other way you know how to bebug on any of this phones? Thanks a lot.

Hi,

You can use CodeWarrior 3.1 (or CW 3.1.1 which you can upgrade for free) Pro or OEM editions for the On-target debugging. Supported phones are those which are based on S60 3.0 or later (Symbian Os 9.0 or later).
Then you need On-target debugging tool named Application TRK installed in your phone. The Application TRK should be available soon in forum.nokia.com.

Hi,

Here is the list of phones whihc supports On-traget debugging at the moment:
3250, E60, E61, E70, N71, N80, N91, E62, N93. CodeWarrior itself does not restrict the debugging the restriction is on the phone side. Pre-3.0 phone models do not allow Application TRK generate connection to the OS kernel components.
