6020 asks for authentication on every connection

hello together,

connection settings are ok on my test- nokia 6020. when the MIDlet opens
a socket-connection the device asks for authentication every time (user and password textfields are pre-filled with saved configuration data).

"Authentifizierung für Zugangspunkt erforderlich" (authentication for access point required)

the user has to press ok, ok, ok and the connection succeeds. how can this message be avoided? i did not see something similar on any other device yet...

To resolve this issue, make sure to enter a user name and password in your current GPRS settings: Menu > Settings > Configuration settings > Personal configuration settings > E-mail or Web account > … > (GPRS) Bearer settings > User name / Password. I am not sure if this affects OTA received settings, too. I guess so.

This solved a similar issue with the internal E-mail client of my Nokia 6822 (Firmware V 5.21; Vodafone D2 operator version) which uses Java sockets, too.

hansprueller, for future post always make sure to set the user interface to Menu > Settings > Phone settings > English and the write down the error message there. It is called Access point authentication needed in English – I found your post because I tried the German error message first, too.

thanks for the tip,

in fact the user and password values ARE set in the configuration. when the authentication box appears, these values are filled in the form - the user just has to press OK.

that's why this is really noisy.

– Happens the same problem on the internal e-mail client?
– Correspond these values to the ones of the personal GPRS Internet configuration?
– Does this happen with CSD or GPRS only?
