We are developing an application for wap phones and we need to get the device number of the phone or the mobile number of the user for authentication. Is there any way that we can get this information?

It depends on the gateway and if you are using a subscription service. If your gateway is going to be open for all users then the phone.com gateway will always register the users number when they dial up. It populates a database field for the user and gives them an annonymous sign on on the basis that they have not yet been provisioned in the database. You can then assign a URL to "annonymous users" which hosts the default start page for all users who fall into this category. This means that you can therefore use the number and then create a form for users to self provision themselves into the database of users. There MSISDN is always recorded and can be cross referenced against the number they key in etc.
