s40 - 6280 predictive text bug

I got a very very early version of the 6280, and the firmware was very buggy and a couple of weeks ago it ceased to be! Died. Took it to Phones4u and they sent me to some club nokia repair store where they upgraded my firmware to V 3.7 which is super EXCEPT:

When you add a word to the dictionary, the word will work in that session but as soon as you go to write a new text the word is gone and you have to manually type it in again. This did not happen in the earlier firmware version so it's strange that it happens now.

Hope you can fix it! Is there any way we can upgrade our own firmware without having to take it there?

Hi kevthedrummer! Welcome to Nokia Discussion Boards!!

No, you cannot up grade firmware by your own. You have to take your phone to the Nokia care/service center to upgrade the firmware.

Please check in another 6280 with FW V 3.7, that this problem exists in that phone too. If so it could be considered as a bug. It would be fixed in the next firmware upgrade( But i am not sure whether it is fixed or not !).

I have two friends who just got this phone with version 3.7 and they have the same problem! I thought it was just mine but I heard them complaining about it too!

On the top of Discussion Boards, there is a Link "My Account" click on it then you will be navigated to a page having "Edit Avatar" on the left side, click it and you can choose from the list of about 31 avatars. But AFAIK, you cannot create your own avatar. You have to use the avatars that Nokia provoides.
