Not at the moment. Java API for Bluetooth standardization is under investigation in the Java Community (JSR 82). The specification will standardize a set of Java APIs, allowing these Java-enabled devices to integrate into a Bluetooth environment. It is expected that the Java APIs for Bluetooth will usually be used in conjunction with the Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP). However, it is intended that the APIs should only depend on standard CLDC APIs, and should not require MIDP.
Nokia is participating in this expert group. The specification will be published probably in 1Q/2002. Each manufacturer will decide if they will implement it and when. In the case of new API implementations Nokia will inform developers via Forum Nokia.
