Python for S60 wiki

Hi all,

as some people already noticed, we now have a new "official" wiki for PyS60:

All PyS60 hackers are welcome to contribute. I'd suggest this as the canonical place for gathering links to all the applications and extensions modules people have done.

NOTE: To avoid spam, you have to log in before you can edit the pages. The CAPTCHA you need to pass is currently a bit harder than it should be: to register you need to enter the fuzzy text you see in _lower case_ even though it's shown in upper case. Caught me a few times.

Big thanks to Matt Croydon for hosting the PyS60 wiki at postneo.com so far! Most of the content from that wiki has been imported and reorganized already, though there's still work left.

Hello,
I'd like to make a standalone application with py2sis and followed the instructions in http://www.mobilenin.com/pys60/info_...pplication.htm.

The uidcrc was not found, where can I find it from?

The instructions mention Nokia 6630 has S60 2nd edition and FP2. I thought it should be FP3. Which one is correct, and does it have an impact on py2sis?

"This will get you the s60_2nd_fp2_sdk_msb.zip file, unzip it and run the setup.exe file to install the SDK (Which SDK is the correct one depends on your phone model. The one referred to in here is for Nokia 6630)."

If you are trying to make a standalone application for 3rd edition devices, Jurgen's tutorial won't help since this part is only correct for 2nd edition.

I'm not sure but have you installed 2nd and 3rd edition SDKs on the same machine? It looks like.

To make your life easier jethro.fn has made a python script, ensymble, that embeds all tools for making standalone applications. Check it and its documentation at http://www.nbl.fi/jussi.ylanen/ensymble.html

Hi i'm a beginner and trying to make a standalone app too but what must i write for "uid" section?
In example i make my a.sis with uid=0x0FFFFFFF and install to my 7610.It works OK.But when i make b.sis with the same uid(uid=0x0FFFFFFF) and try to install on my phone it warns me "if want to replace 1.00 with 1.00"
Do i have to make or choose a different uid everytime i make a sis?
How do i choose it? What is uid?

The UID is a unique identifier.

Every applications have a unique number, it is the consequence when you use the same UID. The phone thinks that you want to upgrade your application.

One per application.

How do i choose it? What is uid?

I'm not exactly sure at the moment but it should be in a certain range 0x01000000 - 0x0FFFFFFF if I'm not mistaking.

Now there's an alternative, called ensymble (by jethro.fn) to make your installation package. You might be interested in using it!

Unfortunately Ensymble is incompatible with 7610, which is a 2nd Edition FP1 device.
