Help needed for clock hands

Help. I have a theme with my own clock which works using my own clock face and mask. I want to add my own hands. The masks for the hands do not seem to work. When I use the animate feature to view the clock moving, the whole square of the hands bitmap moves round, obliterating the clock face.

This happends if I use the mask wand, or edit the bitmap. I am using version 3.0 of the theme studio. Is this a bug?

The new 3.1 version of the Theme Studio handles the clock hands correctly.
