    Hello!

I need to develop a control panel (S60 GUI Application) to configure the settings of a Symbian Server (developed by our company). I'm a newbie on S60 GUIs ;-). The control panel must work for S60 2nd and 3rd Editions.

How is the best and easiest way to accomplish this objective
    satisfying these 2 requirements?
    1. I want to avoid code duplication as much as possible (I need to use
    a single code base).
    2. I want to automate GUI generation using, for instance, UI Designer (I never
    used Carbide UI Designer before)

    Thank you very much!

    Regards,

    Alfredo

If you are going to use the standard AvKon control set - (setting)lists, forms, dialogs -, you can use pretty much the same code for both editions. AvKon controls fit to the actual device automatically.

    OK, Thank you.

    Then which is your recommendation:

    1. Generate the GUI using Carbide's UI Designer for S60 v2 and then include the port for S60 v3 usign ifdef on mmp, pkg, .h and .cpp

    OR

    2. Generate the GUI using Carbide's UI Desginer for S60 v3 and then include the port for S60 v2 usign ifdef on mmp, pkg, .h and .cpp

    OR

    3. Carbide's UI Desginer is very smart and it is able to generate projects that are compatible for S60 v2 and v3

    Thank for your help! ;-)
