Maximum JAR size

I couldn't find any previous complete answer to this question. When the technical specifications mention "Max JAR size", what does that number really mean? The Nokia 6230 is supposed to have a maximum of 125 KB, but I've successfully installed and started an application that was 233 KB. It worked without any problem whatsoever both OTA and using IR with Nokia PC Suite.

honestly speaking it is funny because i have read somewhere in this forum that by changing the size of jar in JAD file you can actaully play with the size of the jar. coming back to ur question as far as i have understood Max jar size mean maximum jar file.

KarlH, sounds like a mistake in the device specification. I'll pass this on the the person responsible for those specs.

nicenouman, at least with signed MIDlets this does not work as the MIDlet is not installed if the JAR file size does not match with the real file size. I am not sure if making the JAD entry smaller allows the device to start the download of the, if the installation later fails, or if everything succeeds on some devices.

but if the size of jar is bigger then allowed in specs and if i change the entry in JAD file to the size of the jar then it will get installed shoudnt it.
