UPdate Error! while installation

Hi ,

I'm developing application with S60 3rd edition.
My application work fine on the emulator.
When I create the sis file and sign it, then I try to install it on the phone, I get an error message "Update Error".
Can any one help? I don't really know what's the error and where is it comming from.

Remove the sis file which is already installed on ur device and then try to install it again will resolve the problem..

the update error will usually get if the sis file is already there in the phone memory.
try to delete the sis from folder sys/bin going through file browser.

And how to go inside sys/bin !!!?

From 3rd edition onwards /sys is not accessible to non-TCB programs.
For more information refer to the "Data Caging" in the SDK help.

However you can uninstall applications from Application Manager on your phone.

Thanks every body, I solved my problem by formating my phone.
I tried by deleting the sis file with no luck.

Some of the common reason for this error:

1. After the installation of YourApp.SIS, change the UID3 of YourApp and try to install again with out uninstalling the previously installed YourApp.

2. If YourApp.SIS is trying to install SomeFile.ext which has been already installed by OtherApp.SIS will make a name conflict and leads to this error.

I am successfull in setting up skype in my nokia E72 after deleting the built in talk dialer apps....
