    Dear All,

I am a newbie in Symbian C++ programming, I have been usually working using j2me, but due to my need to detect incoming phone calls on the mobile, I had to switch to Symbian C++.

So, I downloaded Carbide C++ and also carbide.vs

So, I created a new Symbian OS C++ project, chose to make it with the UI Designer

    All of that is fine.

BUT, i was stuck to a very important problem, I dont know where the application begins nor what is the flow of functions calling each other, the application entry point,......

I really need some help in this issue as the detection of incoming phone calls is a real important module of my graduation project.

So, any help, tutorial, anything that would help me understanding that issue would be more than great.

Note, I have tried the SDK documentation and i understood NOTHING

    Thanx in advance

    Hi John,

I suggest you use the wizard to get the helloworld and using debugging(put breakpoints and execute the statements one by one), try to see how the program is executed. That should give you a fair idea of 'flow' that you are trying to understand.

It would be helpful to get your fundamentals clarified before you move to more 'complex' applications like the one in question. I suggest also that you check out the books recommended by Antony.

    Good Luck and Cheers

Pre-3rd edition S60 SDK Helps contain a nice sequence diagram of application startup for the Hello World (or Hello World Basic) example.

    Hi,
Even I am new to symbian. I tried debugging, it helped me a lot. Put breakpoints at different functions and try. The flow cld be understood that way. Try with HelloWorld program.
    Hope this helped...
