    Hi all,
I have strange problem updating older version of my application on Series60 3rd edition phones. What i have is
    * 1.0 version of my app. which is Symbian Signed
    * 1.1 version of my app. which is Symbian Signed

When i first install 1.0 and try to install 1.1 on top of it installer says "Update error". I'm sure some of you had the same problem, any workarounds? I really do not want the user to uninstall 1.0 version because it contains some personal setting (bookmarks in my case). This update technique worked perfectly in Series60 2nd edition.
    Please help.

    cheers,
    M.

I've encountered this problem when the UID of an app/dll in the SIS file has changed between versions.

    thanks for the reply!
No in our case UID is always the same, the only change is that there more files added in version 1.2 that's it.

    cheers,

If you tried uninstall your application and you still getting the same error, then formating the phone would be the solution.

Can you perform the same operation with DevCert signed sis files? Otherwise I wonder what is the significance of the fact that the sis files are Symbian Signed.

I have also faced this error with My dev. cert Signed Apps.

    in Following cases.

    1. If UIDs has be changed. [I agree Error must be there.]
    2. Updated With Lower Capability Apps.
    3. Even Updated With Different UID in SIS file.
    4. More Dlls / exes in installation.

But in all cases if i manually Uninstall and then Install no Problem.

if i sign the sis file with the developer certificate i get the same problem. My UID is the same, no capability change. All i have is more files in !:\private\<UID>\ dir, but these are not EXE or DLL just PNG.

Do you have any files outside private folder?
