How to make transperency Icons and Graphics?

Hi guys, i would love to know how can i make some transperency icons and graphics!! what i mean is how do i keep the transperency area transparent when i put it in the carbide section!!
i use Adobe Photoshope CS2 to design graphics, but when uploading them to the program instead on the transparent area i get a white background!!
how can i remove this and what do i need to use!!
please guys help!

its very easy buddy........just while saving your image save it as GIF image and in the checkbox check for transparency is marked.........

Hello,
It is recommended to use SVG. In vector editor's (Inkscape, Adobe Illustrator) You shoudl be able to define transparent areas.
If You prefer using bitmaps, transparency needs to be handled by defining the mask (select pasted bitmap and activate command Edit Mask ...)
