Help on custom menu.

Hi All,

I m developing a mobile appln in j4me. in this I'm using custom menus; I have tested that with Nokia N70. Menu options are working fine there...

But if I put this appln in N96 are such S60 mobiles, its invoking some other menu...

in that menu my options also seems as options...

For example, if i m adding two command like "OK" "Back" (for left and right soft key...) but while clicking on the left key instead of invoking the commandAction, it showing "show open apps", "ok", "Back"... likewise...



Pls help me out in this issue...

well unfortunately there isnt much to help out with...
long story short : the OS itself decides how to show Commands u have added in ur code... U can place a priority but that wont be interpreted as a "must have" priority but more like a "i would like to" priority... in the end the OS has the final decision on how Commands are placed... There is some documentation which explains somewhat what standard commands (OK, CANCEL, EXIT etc) get placed (left or right softbutton), but I cant remember where that documentation is...
also those are not specifically the same for every Nokia device, so it also changes depending on platform...

Thanks for the response . We have added our own Custom Menu. The problem arises only in Nokia 3rd Edition FP2 Handset

But there are some applications that involve custom menu implemented in their app. So i think there is a possibility

of adding custom menu but I don get the implementation idea of how they have done.

Issue seems to com in only that version of Symbian OS but previous version work really fine..

So is it possible to get a solution for this .

well the only option is that u dont use High Level graphics but low level graphics...
specifically draw ur own menu's on the canvas...
another option is to utilize some 3rd oparty library like j2mepolish...

Hi Tiger,

I m working with J4ME only... here i use only two images to draw the menus... i m not using any complex graphics...

But still i m facing this issue..

owh sorry thought that j4me was a typo (instead of j2me),
i have no idea how that works so I cant help unfortunately...
