"Start Connector" fails

Hi

when selecting "Start Connector", followed by my standard T-Mobile Internet connection (3G), I get the message "Access was denied. Is the user name and password correct?".
Now, I am wondering few things:

1) Where should I enter this "user name and password"?

2) Could it by that my ISP (T-Mobile) blocks access of the local Apache server on my handset (i.e. some specific ports)? If yes, could I change some ports?

When you register for an account, you get a registration mail with the identifier and the password. When you invoke [Options]->[Settings] you'll get a dialog where they should be entered.

Too early to tell. First try with the identifier/password in place.

Now that I have the account, it works very nicely.
I assume my wife will be happy, as well as my operator.... but not my company as they pay for the phone. So that 's still a blocking point in Germany.

Actually, it depends...

For instance, if someone fetches an image using the web-server is likely to cost a lot less compared with you sending it as an MMS. Similarly, if a text message is delivered to you using the web-server, it's likely to cost less than sending it as an SMS. Of course, in the former case it's you and not the sender who pays. But obviously, if your URL ends up on SlashDot, for instance, someone might get upset about the size of your phone-bill.

In a productized system, access control at the gateway is definitely needed in order to be able to block traffic before it enters the wireless media. That is, before it starts causing cost in terms of money and battery consumption.
