For example, I would like to know that the phone is a Nokia phone model E61 or a Sony Ericsson model T637. Specifically I want to know the capabilities of the phone (i.e. SMS, MMS, WAP version)
I think the carrier has this information through the IMEI.
The question is if I can from J2ME to know the capabilities of the phone, including if it has camara, mp3 player, etc.
thx.
You could try with System properties.Originally Posted by rolecram

For example Page 1 says:
String: microedition.platform
Description:
"The name of the host platform or device. In Nokia devices the name consists of “Nokia”, the device model, and software version separated by “/”. There is no space between “Nokia” and the model number nor on either side of “/”. Formally, the syntax of the platform string is: Nokia MODEL_NUMBER “/” SW_VERSION. For example, Nokia6310i/4.42 or Nokia3510i/p1.25."
Hope this helps!
