MIDlet icon in active standby

Hi,

did someone manage to show an icon for a MIDlet on the active standby screen on S60 3rd edition?

I installed a MIDlet with an icon associated. The icon shows up in the menu. But when I add the MIDlet to the short cuts on active standby screen, only a default icon is shown there. (In the menu it is still my MIDlet icon.)

I read the document "Using icons in MIDlets" in the library, but it doesn't work. Even installing the IconTestMIDlet there does not lead to the desired behaviour.

My phone is an E50 with the firmware V06.27.1.0.

Has someone ever got the MIDlet icon show up in active standby?

GMail midlet for example works correctly. One thought is to download GMail, unpack its jar and see what icon size is being used with it.

Hi Daniel,

thanks for your hint. I downloaded the Gmail MIDlet now from gmail.com/app. The download page detected my phone correctly as a SymbianOS 9 phone. The MIDlet works fine, but on the active standby screen the phone only shows the standard logo, not the Gmail logo. I also tested it with Opera Mini. They use the following logo types:

Opera Mini: PNG 15x15 pixels
Gmail: PNG 12x12 pixels

Now I suppose it's a problem with my phone. I reseted it, but that doesn't help either. What phone model and firmware version do you use?

Now I updated my firmware to V 06.41.3.0 (24-10-2006, RM-171). Then I installed the Google Gmail MIDlet and added it to the active standby screen. But still there is the same wrong symbol - the same error.

I will test with my E50 and see what happens. I currently have tested with E70/61/61i.

The icon indeed appears incorrect on the Active Standby. I suspect this is a firmware issue. I will test more with different sizes and see what I can do.
