E61 WEP Certificate Authentication

Is it possible at all to use 802.1x authentication with WEP instead of EAP? When I select 802.1x the WPA mode only has EAP and Pre-shared key option.

@work I use 802.1x authentication with WEP encryption and I have the certificate transferred to my E61 and successfully installed.

I know that it is possible to specify a certificate if the WPA mode is set to EAP but I want the same with WEP.

Will this be considered by Nokia in the future firmware upgrades?

Guys anyone with any clue about this? Atleast would anyone know if there will be another firmware for E61 sooner?

802.1x always means that you are using EAP for doing authentication. What else would you be running over 802.1x than EAPOL? To my knowledge the 802.1x mode was designed specifically to be used with WEP with EAP. Doesn't it work for you?
