Suppose firstly a user installs a program on the memory card, then it detaches the memory card, and installs the same program on the phone memory, and then insert the momory card, now the same program are installed on both phone memory and memory card. But only one icon will be shown in the "menu" . So when the user select the icon in the "menu", which program will be launched? This makes sense if the .ini file in the two drives are different. Or if the two pragrams are of different version.

You don't specify which devices you're talking about, but in Symbian v9+ what would happen is that the original copy would be uninstalled, and the new copy installed. Even if the memory card isn't present.

Next time the user inserts the memory card with the old application on, one of two things will happen:

    1) If the new copy of the application was installed to internal memory, then the copy on the card will be cleaned up.

    2) If the new copy of the application was installed to the memory card, then it just works as normal.
