Will S60 3rd Ed FP2 emulator have Support for Windows Vista Aero

Hi,

The situation with S60 C++ SDK emulators is difficult to understand.
S60 2nd Ed FP2 loads and works.ie no kernel panics.
S60 3rd Ed Base windows supports Vista Aero windows but fail in the KeySoundServerThread panics the kernel

** S60 3rd ED FP1 dumps Vista AERO window handler *** then the result in epocwind.out show no process starts at all.
** the eiksrvs.exe is failing to load correctly or calls load from eiksrvs.exe status -1**

This seem to like each version is going backward.

In December 2007 Windows Vista (tm) will be the only Operating System available, if you buy an new PC. Window XP OEM,Home,Volume licences will no longer be sold and therefore XP will stop.

Carbide.c++ version 1.1 will not support GCCE in Vista.
Carbide.c++ 1.2 work in Vista.
S60 FP1 can compile for emulator and fixed to compile for GCCE.

Everything seems to be going backward with the emulators.
I am going to the 3rd Ed MR next

3rd MR has same error as above.

Unfortunately it does not seem possible to remove Real Tek drivers from win Vista.
Something to look at anyway

Just went to Audio Speaker icon,right click on icon and selected disable and this has the same effect as uninstall of drivers.

It should be always possible to remove those drivers, and removing them will get rid of the problem, at least it worked for me just fine.

Thanks for your original note.

I have uninstalled the RealTek drivers as you suggested.
The result is no sound whatsovever, the chipset needs the drivers, but I dont care.I cannot find any approved drivers on Vista WHL

The only 3rd Edition that works is the original base version dated 11 december 2005.

When I had completed the run I dumped the epocwind.out and compared with the win XP print out. The main thing here was the speed which the emulator executed on startup.

so I will need to fix cl_bapi.pm for 3rd Edition to work with Vista.

This is odd because originally on XP this was an unstable version that caused problems so it seems to have been fixed,quietly.


3rd Ed MR still fails without RealTek some process failure in epocwind.out

3rd Ed FP1 fails with Windows Aero Errors and loads (pages) of process failures in epocwind.out

3rd Ed FP2 Beta emulator works and there is a patch for GCCE for this version

Hi all,
The S60 3rd FP2 is now available and the emulator works with Carbide.C++ 1.2.2 under Windows Vista Premium(Aero). Open C compilation is built into this version.

GCCE will need a patch to as with other version because the GCCE is not owned by Symbian. I hope to bring out a patched version to support FP2 on the wiki page given.

Hi All,

The S60 3rd Ed FP2 Beta emulator works fine and now I have developed a patch to complie line and self sign the HelloCarbide Carbide.c++ 1.2.2 generated example. This is now on the Wiki Vista support page.
