Hi. I am looking for reading material about How To design an application for small devices (in particular I am interested in Nokia 9210 Communicator).
Maybe somebody could provide me with URLs, PDFs, or references to some books?

I guess you have browsed all the documents in Forum Nokia web site? Other recommended web site is www.symbian.com.

You find also available books from the Symbian web site http://www.symbian.com/books/index.html.

If you are really going to develop for Nokia 9210 Communicator, I recommend you to download the SDK for 9210 Communicator and go through the SDK Help and all documents.
