App test lite and Symbian signed test critiria

Hi.
My company is developing an application for 3rd edition s60.
I am trying to figure out what is the best strategy for testing our application
before applying it to Symbian Signed process.
I have installed AppTest Lite, and I am aware of the "Symbian Signed Test
Critiria" document from November 2006 , but what I didn't understand is whether the automated test application is covering all or part of the tests described in the documents (some of them require tool not available for
3rd edition AFAIK), that is, is succeeding in AppTest Lite sufficient
to predict success in Symbian Signed Process ?

By itself, no. Check the Symbian Signed test criteria doc, some of the criteria list other tools. Also some of the criteria that look into About content etc are not caught by the tool. If my memory serves me right, the log file of the tool refers directly to test criteria?

But those other tools would not run on 3rd edition OS, or did I miss
something ?

My impression was that only the LowMem tool was not available for 9.0 but then I don't know.. And the LowMem test cases are waived for 9.x due to this. But then I don't know for a fact?

As far as i know, all tools (except AppTestLite) from "Tools" section of SymbianSigned aren't for 3rd edition.

Hi Forester404,

From my point of view the best strategy is to study the criteria, to take them into account during the spec phase, and include them in your own test plan. This is true for the Symbian Signed criteria, but also for the Nokia Testing criteria, Nokia criterai which are covering the also the UI of the application.
The Applite could give you an idea of the maturity of the applications against Symbian Signed, but it will not ensure that your application is passing the criteria. Please not the AppLite is not used by the TH.
