Install midlet over HTTP

Hello,

I'm trying to install the midlet I create on 6131 via HTTP.

When the .jar file is uploaded on to the phone, it's seen as a .txt file :-(

What I did:
- setup my web server for mime type application/java-archive for .jar
- drop my .jar application on the server
- connect my phone to the link

My phone prompt me to save the file to some folders, but never offer me to put it in the application one.

Any clue?

In addition to the .jar, also upload the .jad-file, add it to the MIME-types and try installing through it. This should work. The phone should then automatically recognize it as application.

the MIME-types should be defined as follows: (on the server, .htaccess-file if it runs on Apache)

AddType text/vnd.sun.j2me.app-descriptor jad
AddType application/java-archive jar

Thank you BloodRedsky, I've tryied what you said with no success.

The addtypes on apache server with no problem.

I upload the both file .jad et .jar on the server and download them with the 6131.

When the .jad download is finished, it said "FILE FORMAT NOT SUPPORTED".

If this can be usefull to help me: when the phone prompt me for the folder to save the downloaded files. It doesn't show me the application folder.

you've modified the mime.types file on Apache, adding the following extension types:

text/vnd.sun.j2me.app-descriptor jad

application/java-archive jar

and even so the application can't be installed?

There may be some problem with your jad file.Could you please post its contents here?

Additionally, what if you try to download the jar file instead jad?Won't the application be installed properly either?

Hello alb3530,

thanks a lot for your help. I look at my .JAD file, and I found that it was looking for an image file as icon ressource, but the image was not present.

I correct my .JAD file, put the image on the HTTP server and everything works :-P I'm really happy, that will help a lot in my application process.
