Discussion about the SDK choosing for different serial phone!

In the urel :http://www.forum.nokia.com/devices/ , nokia developers tell us every devices' informations in the market, and they also tell us every serial SDK such as :S60 2nd Editon,S60 2nd Editon(FP1/FP2/FP3), S60 3rd Edition etc., and every special device like my 6600 has a special SDK . That seems to means: when i develop a software,i will choose a special SDK ,and the sis/jar file can only be runned in this serial phones???? And is there any ways to solve this problems?

PS: my work is to tranplant the java games (.jar) to the format of "sis", and any good suggestions for my work will be appriciated !

You could face the problem only with 3rd edition devices and pre 3rd edition devices. for 3rd devices signing the sis file is mandatory and also the entry points are different for the 3rd edition. Other than that in 2nd ed FP2 and v2.1 devices (6600) you could use #IFDEF and solve atleast a few of the problems.
You could also code the .pkg file in such a manner that it installs the corresponding sis file based on the phones make.

Anyway the S60 2nd Edition has 4 versions and 3rd has 2 versions .
In your opinion, if i wanna develop a software that can run in every S60 2nd Edition (4 versions will be ok) , i only can use the #IFDEF to solve the transpantion problem and if i wanna transplant to 3rd ed, many codes will be modified ,Right ?

Yea, more or less the codes would is to be modified including the entry point. You must have a seperate sis file for 2nd edition phones and 3rd edition phones.

OK, transplantion between s60 2nd (FP 1/2/3) is easy ,transplantion between 2nd and 3nd is difficult relatively.
The last Qusetion :Is there any necessary to download every SDK 2nd versions? that sound crazy !

Not really if you start after reading the porting guides. Those must be available in the wiki.

I would advice you to download every sdks and to run the app in those too, cos if you are using a deprecated library or so, then it would cos an issue.
