Camera settings for macro mode with flash

Hi, I have successfully used macro mode, however I would like to be able to use a flash/light when taking the images. When using the normal flash, this does not work well because at such a short distance the image is just mostly white from the glare of the flash. What I would really like is just to be able to take a photo with the auto focus light on - without flashing, just having a steady beam of light. Is there anyway of doing this or is there a way of setting exposure to account for this problem???

Just to reiterate.... what I really want is just to set the light on like it is during autofocus. (i have an n73)

Try this:
yourCCameraObject->SetFlashL(CCamera::EFlashFillIn);

It is less strong then CCamera::EFlashForced.
