Python for nokia e65

Hi,
sorry if this is a stupis question im only starting with python,s60 etc.

im looking to buy a nokia e65.. will this be ok for me to develop python apps on?

i have to do a project in college and its for a mobile phone using python.

Hello neil1811 and welcome to the Forum

Well E65 is a cool device but you should be familiar with the installation procedure on the 3rd edition devices.What kinda project do you wish to build?
E65 is a third edition device and Pys60 script shell must be signed with devcert properly to use certain modules like for example location...I am a 2nd edition device user for the time being! I advice you to go through the procedure of installing and using python on 3rd edition devices.Once familiar then you can go for the device.You can also take help from the members of the forum that are using 3rd edition devices if you have any doubts.

well i wasnt familiar it mattered what edition.

im hoping to create an agent for context aware management system.
would you recommend 2nd edition as a safer bet for something like this?

Hi

I Use E65, and I rate it as best device. Go ahead with your Development. You will not find any problems. Yeah if you are not aware of proper version of python you may get some teething troubles initially then rest will be fine. With E65 you will also be able to program location based services for Wi Fi hotspots too..

Well 3rd Edition devices are always faster and better then 2nd edition devices.Also there are some new features on 3rd edition devices which arent available on 2nd edition devices.Also there are few modules on python that can be used only on the 3rd edition devices.So 2nd Edition devices do have some limitations which can be covered in 3rd Edition devices.An E65 would definately be good for you.
