    Hello!

Is there any way to turn off the recording orange light while recording a video in Nokia N82?

Is there any symbian or non symbian patch for that?

    Thank you for any suggestions,
    IraSiad

Do you have some black tape that you can use to cover it?

Now seriously, what is the problem? Why is the light annoying and if the problem is really bothering you why not let the people who made the phone know about it? You can do that at http://discussions.europe.nokia.com

I'm sorry, I thought I was on the right forum. Apparently I was mistaken.

You may find that a light being on when recording is required in some countries so it is on for everyone.

Ron, thank you for your reply.

If it is required in some countries, why all decent Sony, JVC, Canon, Panasonic camcorders have in their menu the option to turn that recording light off?

The same situation is with recording phone conversation. In some countries the warning beep is required when recording, but it is still possible for Symbian s60 application for N82 phone (such as Ultimate VR Recorder which I use on N82) to turn that beep off without any consequences.

The same situation should be possible for that orange light, and my original question was about that.

I think you misunderstood Lucian and my responses. My response is not that it is not possible but that (as you say) it is the default situation. Simply no one bothered to implement an option to turn it off.

Lucian's response was if there is no program way to do it put a bit of tape over it.

Finally this really isn't the right discussion board the http://discussions.europe.nokia.com is for end user discussions and maybe someone there has an answer.

If you do find if this is for a reason or there is some way to do that we don't know about, I'd appreciate hearing back on it. I'm just curious

Ron, thank you for clarification and for pointing me for a right discussion board.

As soon as I know more about this matter - I will write in this thread.

May be I would use a piece of black tape, but there is no point of doing that, because it would cover the flash lamp.

    Greetings,
    IraSiad

In my mind, this comes down to privacy.

One thing to keep in mind is that phones and camcorders are different beasts altogether. People are used to see other people with phones in their hands and not think twice about it (even though in some cases they really should be concerned of this too...). But if someone takes a videocamrea in their hand they immediately suspect that person is recording something.

    two quick scenarios
    a) Mr. X goes to his gym's locker room with his camcorder on and starts videoing people in there.
    b) Mr. X goes to his gym's locker room and pretends speaking to his phone while secretively videoing what is happening in the gym.

Do you see my point in here?

My new N78's camera light has some problems.

Today, when I get a phone call, the camera led light is on.
And it is on and on even I turn my N78 off.
The only way to turn it off is to remove the battery.
And when I put the battery into my phone, the light is still on.
Would you mind to give me some suggestions about how to fix it?
    Thanks very much.

Well, there's nothing you can do but visit a service centre and have your phone investigated/fixed. Check the waranty documents received with the phone, they should include the address of at least one service point. Alternatively contact the retailer from which you have purchased the phone.

Apart from what Wizard suggested, I would also like to say that you should take it to the support center. It needs attention
