Getting the current Cell ID of a given mobile no

Hi,

I want to get the current GSM cell id of a given mobile no ? (not mine) Can we do this ? or do we need a co-operation from the mobile service provider to get the cell id of another mobile no?

Hi,

yes - I think you will need a co-operation with an operator. The network has information of the cell ID for all mobile phones. Depending on which infrastructure provider the operator uses there may different interfaces (APIs) available to get this information.

I recommend a feasibility study first - there are also privacy aspects involved - not every user would like to have its location monitored by a third party.

Maybe search for "Intelligent Network (IN) services", PARLAY, etc. People involved with these technologies might be able to get you further.
