Autostart application on demand?

Hi.
I would like to ask how can i make an application autostart on boot, but to make it optional? I have seen the article http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...Management_API
but what i wanna do is to make it optional. So, i have an application that runs as a server on the phone, and there is another application with a gui that is for the settings of the server. I want to give the user an option about the server being autostarted on boot or not. I couldn't find anything about it so far.
