    Is it compulsory to get our application or the python scrpit shell signed to get the use the location module. I have seen some applications that work without signing

    The python shell that you download is selfsigned with basic capabilities. Thus the signing of the Python script shell or applications is mandatory on 3rd Edition devices for using more capabilities like location.

    The applications that you must have seen must be symbian signed for distribution. And as they are already symbian signed you need not need to sign them again.

    You may be right, as applications I mentioned about are available commerically, so they may be already signed for distribution.
