    Hi:
I developed a not signed java application that use bluetooth access.
It works fine on Nokia series E (specifically E61, E62, E65), but when I try to run it on 6085 model, it throws a security exception.

The application security options on the phone says somthing like:
    Network Access: Ask one time
    Conectivity: Ask one time

Can the carrier has some responsability on this?
My carrier is AT&T on US.

    Any clues?

    thanks in advance,

    As stated here:

It should be an issue related to AT&T restrictions (that do not allow third party apps to access Bluetooth - and many others - functionalities)

Thank you for your answer. You are right.
    It is absolutly incredible!!!!
So, when you develop an app, you must take care about the manufacturer device, the model device and now, the carrier!!!

Do you know if it is the same for all carriers in the US?
Do you know some carrier in the US that has no this restriction?

By the way, is it possible to sign a Midlet with a more than one carrier certificate?

    thank you again,

    Hi Marcelo,

I've not a comprehensive list of permissions for US carrier, maybe searching this forum you should find some usefuls posts about it. Meanwhile, you can take a look at these detailed articles from Hartti's Blog:

Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile U.S. all have special restrcitions in place. Another URL for more information

My understanding is that signing the same JAD&JAR with multiple carrier certificates will not succeed as always some of the certificates would not be available on the phone and the installation would fail. You need to provide separate JAD files for all carriers.

Also note that getting your MIDlet signed by the carrier is not always possible. In many cases you would need to partner with the carrier and fullfill some requirements...
